Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role:

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components, working closely with other departments to ensure that designs meet all performance, quality, and cost objectives.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Design: Produce detailed mechanical designs using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Prototyping and Testing: Create prototypes and oversee the testing process to validate designs, ensuring they are functional and manufacturable.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside other engineering teams (such as electrical and software) to develop integrated systems and solutions.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and testing reports.
  • Project Management: Handle multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot mechanical issues during the design, prototyping, and production stages.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve designs and production methods to enhance product performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.


Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, ideally in [relevant industry, e.g., automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing].
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of materials, mechanical principles, and manufacturing processes.
  • Problem Solving: A track record of identifying and resolving complex mechanical issues.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in both design work and documentation.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., BS, ISO).
