Exciting Opportunity for a Maintenance Technician

We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join a fast-paced and dynamic production facility. Reporting to the H&S Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of production machinery and electrical systems, maintaining high standards of safety, and driving operational excellence.
This is a key position that requires a multi-skilled technician with expertise in both electrical systems and mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to troubleshoot, repair, and optimise production machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:


Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance:

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on production machinery, electrical systems, and equipment to ensure smooth operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve both electrical and mechanical issues on key production machinery, such as conveyors, mixers, packaging machines, and other essential equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components including motors, control panels, sensors, and power distribution systems.


Production Machinery Maintenance:

  • Take responsibility for maintaining the functionality and safety of all production machinery.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines, ensuring the equipment runs efficiently and safely.
  • Manage machine modifications and upgrades to improve performance and reliability.


External Technician Coordination:

  • Liaise with external technicians or contractors when specialist support or repairs are required, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Ensure external service providers adhere to company safety and quality standards while on-site.
  • Review contractor performance and ensure timely, cost-effective solutions.


Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities, particularly electrical work, comply with relevant health and safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Adhere to company food safety standards (HACCP, BRC) and electrical safety codes.
  • Proactively identify and report any unsafe conditions or potential hazards to the Operations Manager.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified Electrician: NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent electrical qualification.
  • Mechanical Maintenance Expertise: Additional certifications in mechanical maintenance or multi-skilled engineering would be a plus.
  • Proven Experience: Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably within the food production sector.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for both electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Reading Technical Schematics: Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams and schematics.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent at managing multiple tasks and prioritising work effectively.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • External Contractor Liaison: Experience working alongside external contractors for complex maintenance or specialised machinery support.
  • Control Panels & Automation: Familiarity with control panels and automated machinery is highly desirable.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external providers.
