Field Service Engineer
Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Service Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for servicing, inspecting, and repairing various types of heavy equipment at customer locations. The role requires independent work with a strong focus on problem-solving, safety compliance, and attention to detail. Flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. This role will require ability to travel between sites covering a large part of the country.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine servicing, inspections, and repairs on a range of heavy equipment
- Conduct visual and operational checks to identify worn or defective parts
- Use technical manuals and diagnostic tools to locate and repair faulty components
- Carry out thorough inspections of accident-damaged equipment and provide detailed reports
- Work independently, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Select appropriate repair techniques, equipment, and materials while adhering to safety protocols
- Obtain customer approval and signatures upon completing work to their satisfaction
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs are carried out in line with manufacturer instructions and company safety procedures
- Be prepared for additional hours, including potential out-of-hours call-outs and travel to customer sites, possibly involving unsociable hours
- Manage tight deadlines, prioritise tasks, and work effectively under pressure
Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the latest diagnostic systems and Auto Electrician fault diagnosis
- Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment on heavy goods or specialist vehicles
- City and Guilds Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems (Maintenance and Repair) or equivalent
- Valid driving licence
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build solid working relationships
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and prioritise tasks
- Flexible and adaptable to changing work demands
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
