Are you looking for an Estimator role? Interested in working for a leading civil engineering contractor, specialising in large scale construction and infrastructure projects?

VANRATH are recruiting an Estimator to work on leading projects across the island of Ireland, based out of the Omagh office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching materials, equipment and labour costs and review potential Value Engineering options.
  • Preparing and sub-contractor/supplier packages for sending out to the market.
  • Collecting quotes from material suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Analysing sub-contractor/supplier quotations for the most competitive and compliant.
  • Planning job timescales, assist with programme preparation and assess the levels of risk on a project
  • Assess individual rates and prices, amend, create new or insert from material and subcontract quotes.
  • Attend relevant meetings/site visits.
  • Prepare tender in accordance with project deadlines/finalisation with Head of Estimating.
  • Experience in pricing tenders using an estimating system
  • Presenting completed tenders to management

The Ideal Person:

  • Relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • A minimum of 4 year's post-graduate experience in a similar / main contracting role; a background in Quantity Surveying / engineering is advantageous.
  • Experience in pricing civil works (roads, site works, railways and concrete works).
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills: experience with estimating software packages, Autocad and QS take off packages plus Microsoft project.
  • Driving licence is essential
