About the Role:
Our client is a well-known Engineering company manufacturing precision engineered products for clients all over the world. They have won multiple awards in recent years for the way their business is managed which makes this a great place to work.

They are seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join their team in a critical role, responsible for ensuring that our engineering and manufacturing processes consistently meet the highest quality standards. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining our reputation as a leading manufacturer by actively contributing to the continuous improvement of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that products meet customer requirements and maintain quality control systems throughout the manufacturing process. Collaborate closely with staff in Quality and Technical departments, as well as engineers and machine operators.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of goods received, work in progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with standards. Monitor incoming parts and raw materials to verify their quality.
  • Perform routine visual and dimensional inspections using a variety of measurement tools, including handheld equipment, CMM, and gauges, to ensure precision.
  • Review new non-conformance (NC) reports, ensure all necessary information is captured, and implement preventative actions to avoid recurrence. Monitor and approve the closure of NC actions.
  • Compile and complete Certificates of Conformity (CofC), Fair Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), and customer quality assurance documentation. Support quality-related investigations and corrective actions as needed.
  • Work closely with the supply chain team to resolve supplier-related quality issues, develop an approved supplier list, and ensure effective communication.
  • Conduct quality training workshops and toolbox talks, and represent quality in production meetings by reporting on quality trends and preventative actions.
  • Lead investigations into product failures, manage product recalls, and monitor the production cycle to identify potential issues early on.
  • Identify technical issues, recommend solutions, and work with internal teams to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Third level qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering processes and quality control tools.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 standards and continuous improvement methodologies such as 5Y, 8D, and cause and effect analysis.
  • Commercially astute with a focus on managing costs of quality (COQ) and reducing costs of poor quality (COPQ).
  • Understanding of Kaizen, lean manufacturing, and APQP is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, with a proven ability to drive tasks to completion efficiently, ensuring sustained continuous improvement.
  • Strong-willed and resilient, with a commitment to the quality function.
