About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Officer to join a leading local government body. The successful candidate will support the Procurement Manager in delivering value-for-money procurement services, ensuring compliance with UK and EU regulations while providing expert advice to internal stakeholders.



Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing procurement processes, ensuring compliance with Council policies and procurement regulations.
  • Advising on procurement risks and minimising exposure to potential challenges.
  • Managing e-Procurement transactions, including e-Tenders and e-RFQs.
  • Preparing tender and quotation documents, conducting evaluations, and providing recommendations.
  • Conducting market research to ensure best value for money and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Managing fuel stock audits for Council fleets and buildings.
  • Providing training and guidance to staff on procurement procedures.


Essential Criteria

  • A Level 4 qualification (HNC or equivalent) with at least one year of experience in procurement competitions.
  • OR at least two years of experience in procurement competitions if no formal qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of e-Procurement systems and experience in tender documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Email).
  • Ability to analyse data, provide reports, and work effectively with stakeholders.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Experience in editing and producing procurement-related documents in line with Council policies.
