Payroll Specialist - Immediate Start (Temp to Perm)

VANRATH are delighted to be assisting a leading Technology/ Telecoms company with the recruitment of a Payroll Specialist. Fantastic company to work in, one of the best company cultures in NI and opportunities for progression.

Shifts are held over Monday to Friday (9.00am - 5.30pm + 1 Hour Lunch). No weekend working.

The role will be mainly Remote working - with occasional days spent in the companies Belfast Office (Dargan Crescent) - ( Average is 4-5 days at Home, and 1 day in office - Most weeks will be 5 days at Home if preferred).

Equipment will be provided to yourself for Home working.

The Ideal Person

  • Ideally you'll hold a professional payroll qualification or part qualification with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a payroll function
  • You will have experience working in a payroll department or in a similar role and will have knowledge of current government policies and regulations.
  • Have a strong knowledge of payroll principles, practices, processes and procedures
  • A clear understanding of local and government payroll laws and regulations
  • Proficient in using payroll software and MS Office
  • Well organised and able to work under pressure and to deadlines

Responsibilities

As a Payroll specialist you will be responsible for preparing monthly and fortnightly payroll across a number of entities as well as preparing employee salary information and responding to employee queries. You will be part of a payroll team reporting directly to the Group Head of Financial Reporting.

As a Payroll Specialist you will:

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time for all employees.
  • Calculating sickness, pension, holiday pay and other entitlements in line with employment contracts and employer policies.
  • Work with employees and management to resolve any payroll issues.
  • Liaising with the People & Culture for new starts, leavers and another payroll related matters.
  • Analyse monthly and fortnightly salaries and allocate people costs to various projects.
  • Review and process all payroll related accounting entries in the GL.
  • Ensure payroll and tax documents are accurate and compliant.
  • Submit monthly, quarterly and annual returns to HMRC.
  • Participate in payroll audits.
