Salary: £34,524 - £35,712 per annum

Vanrath are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a prestigious public sector organisation for the position of Temporary Investigating Officer. The Role:
As a Temporary Investigating Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting impartial desk-based analysis and investigations into complaints regarding public bodies.
- Assessing complaints against the NI Local Government Code of Conduct for Councillors.
- Supporting 'Own Initiative' investigations into potential systemic maladministration or injustice within public services.
- Preparing detailed, evidence-based reports for senior management.
This role requires excellent judgement, analytical rigour, and the ability to handle a varied caseload while adhering to strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigating complaints in line with legislative and procedural frameworks.
- Gathering and analysing complex information to support decision-making.
- Conducting interviews with complainants, witnesses, and relevant parties.
- Drafting clear, concise correspondence and reports.
- Promoting the organisation's values and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
The Ideal Candidate:
Applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
Qualifications:
- A degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years' relevant experience, OR a minimum of 4 years' relevant experience in collecting and analysing information to produce evidence-based conclusions.
Experience:
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Experience interpreting legislation, codes, or guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex workloads and meet deadlines.
- Experience conducting challenging interviews with empathy and professionalism.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of investigative practices and research techniques.
