Role Overview

My client is seeking a Data Engineer to play a key role within the Data team to assist in developing and enhancing data ingestion processes, ETL pipelines, and analytics capabilities. This position will focus on processing and analysing large datasets to extract valuable insights related to sports performance, contributing to the evolution of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Data Ingestion and ETL

  • Design, build, and maintain data ingestion processes from various sports data providers.
  • Develop and optimise ETL pipelines to ensure smooth data flow into our data lake and analytics engine.
  • Ensure data consistency, quality, and reliability throughout the ingestion and ETL processes.


Analytics and Insights

  • Collaborate with the data science team to implement solutions that provide actionable insights.
  • Work closely the team to translate business needs into technical requirements and analytical solutions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, focusing on data ingestion, ETL, and analytics.
  • Proven experience building and optimising data pipelines and architectures.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Expertise in big data technologies, especially in Azure, is desirable.
  • Programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passion for sports and an interest in sports analytics is a plus.
