Overview
The Category Officer will support procurement activities within a designated category, ensuring value for money, compliance with public procurement regulations, and the delivery of efficient and effective procurement solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and management of procurement strategies for assigned categories.
  • Conduct market research and supplier analysis to inform procurement decisions.
  • Support the tendering process, including drafting documents, evaluating bids, and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with public procurement regulations and internal policies.
  • Monitor contract performance and supplier relationships to ensure service delivery and value for money.
  • Provide procurement advice and guidance to internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to procurement activities.


Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Desirable Criteria:

  • CIPS qualification (or working towards it).
  • Experience in category management within a public sector environment
