Location: Cookstown
Salary: £13.54 per hour
Contract: Initial interim 6 months

About the Role: Vanrath is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our esteemed client for the position of Administrator in Cookstown. This role is integral to providing a modern, efficient, and customer-focused administrative service within the relevant Area Command. The successful candidate will support both internal and external customers in accordance with the client's policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive administrative support to all functions within the Area Command.
  • Prepare and collate information, letters, memos, statistics, reports, and other documents for management and committees.
  • Design, create, and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other documents.
  • Provide advice and support on administrative processes to both uniformed personnel and support staff.
  • Monitor and review administrative systems and processes, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Set up and maintain physical and electronic records and filing systems.
  • Provide administrative support for meetings, including preparation, minute-taking, and follow-up tasks.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including drafting responses and managing general office duties.
  • Deliver high-level customer service, addressing queries and complaints effectively.
  • Administer specific processes for various directorates/functions, such as Finance and HR.
  • Issue and reconcile petty cash, completing necessary paperwork in accordance with financial regulations.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide information for responses to complaints, Freedom of Information requests, and other inquiries.
  • Collaborate with all personnel and stakeholders to ensure consistent business support.


Essential Criteria:

  • Possess at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths.
  • Have at least two years of experience in a demanding office environment, performing a range of business support tasks.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exhibit effective planning, organisation, and prioritising skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to produce timely and accurate information.
  • Customer service orientation.


Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in taking and producing minutes and action plans from meetings.
  • Experience working within local government or the public sector.
