Launched in 2016, BelFOSS is an event designed to showcase and raise awareness of Linux and Free/Open Source Software. Following on from last year’s success, VANRATH were delighted to be asked by the organisers to become a sponsor and get involved in this years event.
Free Open Source Software (FOSS) is freely licensed to use, copy, edit and study. The source code is openly shared and developers are encouraged to improve the software. Linux and FOSS are becoming increasingly popular; many of the large IT companies and Software Houses in Northern Ireland are actively seeking developers who can call themselves experts in FOSS.
BelFOSS 2017 was held in the newly opened, purpose-built Computer Science Building at Queens University. The speakers on the day came from a wide range of industries and their talks covered many topics including open source security, email threat prevention, the Rust programming language and much more.
If you’re in the market for a Linux/FOSS expert to join your team then get in touch today.
