UK Tax Accountant - Belfast Based

As a UK Tax Accountant, you will be an integral member of the Partners' Affairs and Tax ("PAT") team, working closely with the Senior UK Tax Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the UK direct and indirect tax affairs of the group, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and minimising compliance risks.
The PAT team is responsible for delivering high-quality tax advice and information to key decision-makers, ensuring the firm's adherence to tax laws and regulations. In this role, you will also provide clear and accurate tax advice to business stakeholders on a variety of tax matters.
This position is best suited for individuals with solid corporate or mixed tax compliance experience, ranging from newly qualified to tax senior levels. Part-qualified candidates with demonstrable experience in a tax team and strong corporate tax skills will also be considered, with potential study support available for completing relevant qualifications.
What you will do:
- Prepare Partnership tax computations, including those for global trading income of primary LLP entities (profits c. £500m+), and submit partnership tax returns to HMRC.
- Prepare UK tax computations for various UK and non-UK partnerships and ensure timely submission of tax returns.
- Prepare corporate tax and governance returns, including SAO, for the group's subsidiary corporate entities.
- Play a key role in the year-end closing process, assisting with Deferred Tax calculations.
- Assist in tax accounting and the preparation of tax notes for statutory account disclosures.
- Complete VAT returns, including the management and reconciliation of VAT accounting.
- Advise partners and finance teams on complex VAT matters.
- Participate in various projects, such as tax digitalisation, capital allowances, employment tax, and business structuring.
What you will have:
- Experienced in the preparation of UK tax computations.
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel.
- Ability to analyse and communicate complex technical tax and accounting matters effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Experience with online submission of corporate and partnership tax returns using software like Alphatax and CCH Personal Tax.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with partners, external tax advisers, and finance teams.
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work well with colleagues in Belfast, London, and globally.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of tax issues affecting professional partnerships is desirable.
- A relevant professional qualification (CTA/ACA/ACCA/ATT) or equivalent experience is essential.
