Senior Lead Engineer - Economic Analysis
Location: Belfast / Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
VANRATH is working with a leading energy organisation driving major transformation across Northern Ireland's electricity system. As part of their Future Power Systems team, they're hiring a Senior Lead Engineer - Economic Analysis to help shape long-term energy plans and support the move to a low-carbon future.
This role is ideal for someone with strong modelling experience and a passion for sustainable energy. You'll lead on scenario planning, analyse new technologies, and provide insights to support key energy projects across the UK and Europe.
Lead technical modelling projects for energy scenarios and electricity system design
Assess the economic impact of technologies like interconnectors and long-duration storage
Develop models aligned with UK and EU energy policies
Present technical and economic findings to a range of stakeholders
Support and guide junior engineers and manage external consultants
Represent the organisation at national and European forums
Degree in Engineering, Economics, Maths or similar
5+ years' experience in energy systems or power markets
Skilled in Excel, Python or other modelling tools
Experience with scenario planning tools (e.g., Plexos a bonus)
Strong communicator, able to simplify complex data
£50,000 - £60,000 salary
Hybrid working (3 days in-office, 2 days from home)
Free on-site parking and EV charging
