We have an exciting opportunity for casual seasonal Visitor Information Advisors to provide visitor servicing at the Visitor Information Trailer based in Hillsborough Forest, which operates seasonally
from Easter to September.
The post-holders will provide a meeting and greeting service delivering an efficient and comprehensive tourist information service for visitors and local residents, providing information on tours, attractions, places to eat and drink as well as events and festivals taking place in the area.


What you'll do

  • Provide an information service on attractions, transport, tours, events, places of interest
    etc. in Lisburn Northern Ireland for tourists and residents who are visiting Hillsborough Forest.
  • Provide information on the transport network.
  • Replenish literature stock levels when needed, making sure the full range is available where possible.
  • The daily recording and monitoring of all enquiries from whatever source.
  • The daily/weekly maintenance of information files and records and organisation of literature displays.
  • Ensuring the completion of the required amount of Visitor Satisfaction surveys.
  • Ensuring stock of up-to-date publicity and promotional material from all relevant sources for display in, and distribution from the Hillsborough Forest Visitor Information Trailer.
  • Occasional working off-site as required e.g. events etc.
  • To communicate effectively with other departments to ensure integrated activity across the organisation.
  • Support the team in the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with the tourism industry as appropriate.
  • The provision of any other form of service with which the post holder may be charged in accordance with tourism department's general activities.


About you
Essential Criteria - Method of Assessment
Qualifications: It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:

1. 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at Grade A-C, NVQ level 2 or above

Experience: It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:
1.2 One year customer service experience, ideally in a visitor facing/hospitality role. Where applicants do not possess the essential academic qualifications as outlined in 1.1 they must demonstrate a minimum of 3 years' experience as outlined in 1.2


Desirable Criteria Method of Assessment
Experience: It is desirable that applicants have a minimum of:

One year experience of working in the tourist information service, visitor focused position, hospitality, customer facing retail, travel trade or similar. One year proven and demonstrable experience in sales and
selling skills.


Generally Available to work outside normal hours, as required.
Good flexibility and availability across the working week and weekends.
A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of computer packages
