Sales Engineer - Metal Cutting

Vanrath has partnered with a leading supplier of high-quality CNC and conventional machine tools and accessories provider, they supply into the manufacturing industry throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.

This company has offices in the North and South, being assisted by a strong team of Technical Sales and Service Engineers across the island.


Working Hours

Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5pm - Permanent position.

Responsibilities:

  • Representing the company and promoting, developing and concluding sales of the company's capital equipment and consumable products.
  • Your primary focus and responsibility for sales will be the company's conventional metal cutting and metal forming machine tools - and company consumable and accessory products;
    • Entry level pressbrakes, ironworkers, saws, mills, lathes, grinders, bandsaws, toolroom related equipment and accessories.
    • Folding machines - e.g. Cidan, Jorns.
    • Waterjet machines.
    • Construction equipment, saw/drilling lines with support from responsible product manager.
    • Consumable bandsaw blades, pressbrake and punch tooling.
  • Your secondary focus will be on obtaining enquiries for high-end CNC fabrication equipment and passing these enquiries to our General Manager and working with our General Manager on successful sales of related equipment.
  • A third focus will be obtaining enquiries for CNC metal cutting equipment and passing these enquiries to our CNC Metal Cutting Sales Representative for follow up.
  • Carrying out monthly bandsaw blade counts at customer premises in order to restock.
  • Growing our market share in bandsaw blades & identifying new and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Working with the General Manager to achieve and exceed sales targets set.
  • Approaching and engaging with existing and new customers, you will follow up existing leads, generate new leads and market our products in order to exceed sales and revenue targets. Working to an agreed sales plan, you will prospect for new leads, deliver effective proposals and close sales projects.
  • Visiting existing and new customers throughout NI in order to maintain relationships & establish new relationships, generating sales leads for the complete range of machine tools provided by the company;
  • Managing & interpreting customer requirements;
  • Issuing quotations, follow up, negotiating & closing sales (with support from GM & internal team);
  • Updating customer information and sales leads in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software;
  • Meeting regular sales targets within specified product ranges;
  • Attending weekly meetings & reporting activity (visits / leads / sales, etc);
  • Supporting marketing through email, print & other digital means;
  • Assisting in the running of "Openhouse" events in the company premises;
  • Attendance at overseas Trade shows / factory tours / events as customer liaison or for training / professional development;
  • Demonstrating technical knowledge of products & product ranges;
  • Solving customers problems;
  • Demonstrate the right attitude to be able to move the sales process forward, and the ability to work as part of a sales team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Background in toolmaking and/or use of CNC Machine Tool equipment and/or a degree in engineering or business combined with a strong mechanical aptitude (Candidates with background in Metal Fabrication also considered)
  • Factories/engineering background seeking to move into sales or coming with sales experience.
  • Direct Capital Sales experience or a combination of having worked in a machine tool production environment and possessing a strong interest in moving into a capital sales role and in applying previous experience gained towards providing and selling appropriate equipment and solutions to meet our customer's requirements.
