Job Description

Role: Purchasing Assistant - Temporary - Lisburn

VANRATH are recruiting on behalf of a well-established client for a Purchasing Assistant to join their team on a temporary basis. This organisation operates across multiple locations, offering an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience contributing to the efficient procurement of goods and services in a supportive, professional environment.

The Role

  • Support the purchasing function by sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the timely procurement of materials and services.
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders to maintain optimal inventory.
  • Prepare purchase orders, manage supplier contracts, and track deliveries to ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand material requirements and address procurement needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory using the company's procurement system.
  • Assist with supplier evaluations, ensuring quality standards and compliance with company policies, including Health and Safety regulations.

The Person

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar environment.
  • A minimum of GCSE English and Maths (grades A-C) or equivalent.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office, with experience in procurement software being advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with suppliers.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
