Project Engineer (Public Sector)

Are you looking for a Project Engineer role? Interested in working for a well renowned organisation who's portfolio contains a wide range of commercial uses, including office, industrial, leisure, hospitality and media.

VANRATH are recruiting a Project Engineer to be part of the team responsible for the maintenance and development of all Estate infrastructure. You will provide a highly professional civil engineering and project management capability in the delivery of a wide range of projects as part of the harbour's capital and operational expenditure plans.

Remuneration:
c£45,000-£55,000 per annum, alongside excellent holiday entitlement.

The Ideal Person

Essential Criteria

  • BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering or related degree (2:2 or above).
  • At least five years' experience working on engineering and construction projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of the CDM Regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience of procurement, tender documentation and Conditions of Contract (e.g. JCT, FIDIC, ICC, NEC).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Driving Licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Chartered Engineering status (or willing to work towards).
  • Eight years' post graduate experience including performing a leading role on significant engineering projects.
  • Experience of marine or Port related infrastructure projects.
  • Project management, design and practical site experience.
  • Experience of estimating and controlling budgets.
  • Knowledge of the planning system and Environmental Assessments.
  • Understanding of asset management and experience of structural inspections.



Responsibilities

  • Support the project sponsor and business units to identify the business need and requirements for a project.
  • Establish, through data analysis, clear objectives and success measures for projects, translating client requirements into a project brief.
  • Lead and coordinate any optioneering which may be required.
  • You'll be responsible for the stewardship of projects through the necessary project governance processes.
  • Provide technical engineering insight and analysis.
  • You'll be responsible for the coordination, implementation and control of both technical and engineering projects including design, procurement, construction and commissioning / handover.
  • You'll provide clear and consistent communication throughout the duration of the project utilising best practice project controls.
  • Working closely with the project sponsor, stakeholders and the design team you'll take the lead to manage and resolve issues to ensure the best possible project outcomes.
  • You'll ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are scoped and being managed as part of the project governance arrangements.
  • You'll work proactively to support all design and delivery partners to achieve the best possible project outcomes.
