Parks Advisor - Public Sector

Overview:

We are delighted to be partnering with a leading public sector client to find a dynamic and motivated Parks Development Advisor. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for enhancing public spaces and a background in environmental management, horticulture, or a related field. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of parks and open spaces across the Borough, working with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver impactful projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the Parks Development Officer and other key partners, including government departments, community organizations, and local businesses, to foster strategic partnerships aimed at improving parks and open spaces.
  • Community Engagement: Plan and promote initiatives to increase the use and enjoyment of parks. Engage with community groups and residents to understand their needs and encourage active participation.
  • Biodiversity and Environmental Management: Assist in fulfilling the Council's biodiversity obligations and contribute to the development of sustainable management practices for parks and open spaces.
  • Project Management: Oversee a variety of community and park projects from inception to completion, ensuring effective budget management and timely delivery. This includes coordinating the Council's participation in high-profile awards and competitions.
  • Support and Advice: Provide technical advice on environmental management, landscape design, and public right-of-way issues. Support the Head of Parks Operations in developing business cases and securing funding for capital projects.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualifications: A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Horticulture, Environmental Management, Business) is preferred. However, candidates with at least 2 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a Development Officer role, with a strong track record in areas such as business case development, event management, community engagement, or securing external funding.
  • Skills: Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities. Familiarity with biodiversity and environmental legislation is highly desirable.
  • Additional Requirements: A full driving license or access to suitable transport is essential, as well as the flexibility to work outside of normal office hours when required.

Pay: £33,945.00-£34,000.00 per year
