Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all facets of materials management, from procurement to distribution, ensuring effective stock control and supply chain performance across various departments.
- Manage and mentor teams across multiple locations, maintaining high staff engagement and productivity.
- Oversee supplier contracts, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and performance standards while negotiating favorable terms.
- Take charge of procurement activities, working closely with finance to secure materials and services that meet both budgetary and operational needs.
- Supervise the secure storage and timely distribution of materials, aligning processes with business requirements and compliance standards.
- Ensure the safe and efficient management of the vehicle fleet, providing reliable transportation for business operations.
- Develop and refine processes to enhance efficiency, focusing on lean practices, cost control, and employee development.
- Provide regular reporting on compliance and performance, identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
- Implement ideas that help improve the department
About you:
- A degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of lean management techniques and their application in operational settings.
- Chartered status or active progression toward chartered accreditation is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in managing materials for a large-scale operation, spanning multiple sites.
- Strong leadership background, with a history of managing teams in an engineering or stores environment.
- Financial and contract management expertise, including the ability to optimise supplier performance.
- Proficient in overseeing complex supply chains and ensuring regulatory compliance.
As the Materials & Contracts Manager, you will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the availability and quality of materials essential for business success. Your responsibilities will include managing both tactical and strategic aspects of procurement and supply chain performance, as well as guiding teams through modernisation and efficiency improvements.
This role offers significant autonomy, requiring the ability to make independent decisions and drive process changes that align with the organisation's goals for improved cost efficiency and operational excellence.
