This will be interesting work for a local public sector organisation, and will provide autonomy to assist with managing the IT Infrastructure.

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our IT services, with a special focus on Microsoft on-premises infrastructure, VMware administration, Microsoft 365 migration, backup solutions, and storage technologies.

The client

An organisation within the public sector. They have a small team of 4 engineers covering IT Support, System Admin and management of the organisations IT Infrastructure. While the base of this role will be in Belfast, occasional travel to sites across Northern Ireland may be required from time to time.

Criteria for the IT Infrastructure Engineer position

*The hiring team are not focused on years of experience. They are focused on proven and demonstrable capability in the below:

  • Foundation Degree in IT or higher
  • Experience of Cisco switches, routers, security
  • Experience of VMware, vSphere, and vCenter management
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory etc
  • Experience of migrations to Microsoft 365 (including SharePoint, Office, Teams, Intune)
  • Experience using backup solutions, recovery etc
  • Strong knowledge of storage systems such as SAN, NAS, DAS
  • Good foundation of understanding in network architecture (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and firewall configuration
  • Good foundation of understanding in network security
  • Driving Licence and access to own car
