Information Governance Officer - Belfast

VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our client, a large and well-known Public Sector Organisation with the recruitment of an Information Governance Officer to join their team based in Belfast.
This is a Full-Time Monday - Friday position. Monday - Friday 9 - 5.
Salary
£28,407 per year + fantastic benefits
The Information Governance Officer ensures compliance with legal frameworks such as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Data Protection Act (DPA), and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).
Responsibilities:
- To manage FOIA, EIR, and DPA requests, including sourcing records and responding to public, patient, and external agency inquiries.
- Review and update FOI, EIR, and DPA policies; maintain IG-related databases.
- Organise training and workshops for staff on FOI, data protection, and records management.
- Support implementation of corporate records policies and audit record-keeping systems.
- Update IG assurance standards, maintain software systems, and provide compliance reports.
- Provide guidance on legislative requirements to staff and external applicants.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant degree with 1 year of IG experience, or
- Professional IG qualification with 2 years of experience, or
- 4 years of IG experience, including 2 years at Band 4/equivalent.
- Proven operational experience in information requests or records management.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
- Practical understanding of FOIA, DPA, GDPR, and records management processes.
Desirable Criteria:
- Familiarity with HSC policies and IG frameworks.
- Specialist IG qualification.
