Exciting Opportunity: Head of Engineering
Location: Northern Ireland
Hours: 45 hours per week
(Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, with flexibility for weekend management when required)
The Role
As Head of Engineering, you will take a leading role in managing a team of multiskilled engineers, overseeing critical projects, and ensuring preventative and routine maintenance is carried out to the highest standards. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be instrumental in driving innovation, enhancing efficiency, and maintaining an uncompromising focus on food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver engineering and innovation projects to meet current and future business needs.
- Manage end-to-end project implementation, ensuring objectives are met within timelines and budgets.
- Oversee external suppliers and contractors to ensure adherence to safety and food safety standards.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Provide advisory support to Product Development, ensuring engineering involvement from concept to launch.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
The Ideal Candidate
Our client is seeking an individual who shares their ethos and thrives in a fast-paced environment. To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A relevant mechanical/electrical engineering qualification.
- Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, process control, pumps, drives, valves, and instrumentation.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and projects.
- Familiarity with BRC food safety standards and a strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, IT, and communication skills.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
