Are you an immediately available Senior Qualified Accountant with experience in public sector? This role could be for you!

VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for a public sector accountant to undertake a Senior Management role within a Belfast based organisation. This vacancy is initially a 6 month contract period but there will be an opportunity to apply for their permanent position later in 2025. The ideal candidate should have experience in managing a small team and in liaising with several departments.

Public sector experience is essential for this role and we require someone who can start quickly to facilitate handovers!

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Finance, duties will be as follows:

  • Maintaining effective financial control within allocated Directorates and the services provided within that Directorate including inputting into the Financial Strategy and Financial Plan, financial performance monitoring and reporting and the development of savings plans.
  • Providing finance information and support to the accountability review process including monitoring in-year financial performance and forecast against the overall Financial Plan.
  • Forecasting information for their Directorates to support completing the mid-year financial assessment.
  • Performance Reports to the Board for their Directorates.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Full membership of one of the professional accounting institutes.
  • A minimum of 2 year post qualifying experience in a senior management role in a complex organisation
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience of having managed teams of staff within a complex organisation and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of achieving results through others.


Remuneration:

Grade 7 Banding
