Financial Reporting Accountant
VANRATH are delighted to recruiting for a highly motivated and skilled Financial Reporting Accountant to join a dynamic finance team in the public sector. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity and reporting standards of a prominent public sector organisation, where the successful candidate can work out of any one of their offices in NI.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, a deep understanding of public sector financial regulations, and the ability to manage a range of financial processes efficiently and effectively. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing the flexibility of working from home one day per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant public sector accounting standards
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting policies.
Provide detailed analysis of financial performance, including variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for the organisation.
Monitor performance against budget and provide recommendations for improving financial performance.
Compliance & Governance:
Ensure adherence to financial reporting regulations, policies, and standards, including compliance with relevant public sector legislation.
Assist in audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate audits.
ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification in Accounting or Finance.
At least 3 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or a related field, ideally within the public sector or a regulated environment.
Strong knowledge of public sector accounting standards and financial regulations.
Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports.
Excellent understanding of financial control frameworks, including audit processes.
Proficiency in financial software and Excel (advanced skills are a must).
