Communications Officer - Belfast

VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our client, a large and well-known Public Sector Organisation with the recruitment of a Communications Officer to join their team based in Belfast.

This is a Full-Time Monday - Friday position. 37 hours per week. Monday - Friday 9 - 5.

Salary

£33,000 - £40,200 per annum, plus benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to media inquiries and draft news releases, statements, and content.
  • Build relationships with media and internal teams.
  • Support crisis communication efforts.
  • Develop and implement communication plans across digital and traditional channels.
  • Monitor media coverage and identify emerging issues.
  • Provide out-of-hours support when needed.
  • Support communication strategies and initiatives across departments.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least two years' experience in a communications/press office role.
  • Experience in media inquiries, communication plans, stakeholder relationships, and social media content creation.
  • Strong planning, writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Access to transport.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Public sector communications experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
