Billing Analyst

VANRATH is delighted to partner with our long-standing client to recruit a Billing Analyst. This role will involve overseeing billing services for the client's offices located in Belfast City Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

- Generate invoices in accordance with the Firm's billing policies, guidelines, and standard procedures.
- Create draft invoices, review and adjust narratives as per Firm standards, process time/cost transfers, make value adjustments, and finalise invoices for distribution (via email, post, or e-billing, as applicable). Complete all billing tasks following standard processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, collaborating with others as needed and escalating matters to management in a timely manner.
- Keep client billing information, instructions, and invoicing requirements up to date and accurate.
- Analyse complex situations, applying both analytical skills and sound judgement when interpreting factual and qualitative data in challenging or unfamiliar scenarios.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision, completing tasks and responsibilities in line with agreed objectives. Weigh the impact of decisions and recommendations when solving problems.
- Communicate ideas and information clearly, concisely, and logically while being mindful of the diverse backgrounds of your audience.
- Demonstrate tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive matters or engaging with others.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Criteria:

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, commerce, liberal arts, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a billing position.
- Basic knowledge of accounting and finance principles, particularly within law firms or professional service environments.
- Familiarity with financial systems (SAP preferred but not mandatory).
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Willingness to seek clarification or escalate issues, particularly when asked to deviate from standard processes.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
- Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, and readiness to learn new skills when necessary.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to anticipate work needs, take initiative, and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work on a shifting schedule when required.
