Job Opportunity: AWS Deployment Engineer
Location: Fully Remote
Salary: £70,000
Our client is an industry leader in automated threat modelling and secure software design, working with some of the world's top financial institutions. Their innovative platform automates the threat modelling process, enabling developers to design and build secure software at scale.
Purpose of the Role: As an AWS Deployment Engineer, you will be responsible for deploying upgrades to our SaaS customer base and handling edge case deployments for on-prem customers. You will collaborate closely with DevOps and engineering teams to stay ahead of changes and releases. This role includes acting as a point of escalation for deployment-related issues and requests, providing high-level expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Successfully execute all upgrades and deployments.
- Contribute to the enhancement of our deployment and upgrading processes and pipelines.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and maintain an exceptional personal brand.
- Address ad-hoc requests from our customer base.
- Collaborate with engineering and customer success teams to deliver proposed solutions and workarounds promptly.
- Serve as a point of escalation for deployment-related issues in Product Support.
- Conduct postmortems and root cause analyses (RCA) on any failed upgrades, ensuring resolutions and implementing lessons learned.
Essential Skills:
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in written English.
- Willingness to participate in a rotational on-call rota.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with a commitment to learning new technologies.
- Familiarity with:
- GNU/Linux (CentOS and/or Debian based distros)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure): EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC
- PostgreSQL
- Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Troubleshooting performance and TCP/IP issues
- SaaS application architecture
- Terraform
- Git and version control
Desired Experience:
- Familiarity with SAML integrations and associated challenges.
- Experience with scripting and automation (bash, python, Golang, or similar).
- Knowledge of REST API and Postman.
- Ability to write database queries.
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar).
- Experience with OpenShift.
