What you'll do

As the Assistant Accountant, you will work directly with the Finance Manager and wider finance team to support month-end reporting and day-to-day financial operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Completing Intrastat reports and other statutory filings
  • Stock control and reconciliation of stock movements
  • Managing the creditors ledger: processing invoices, reconciling supplier accounts, and preparing payments
  • Overseeing the debtors ledger: allocating payments, chasing outstanding debts, and issuing statements
  • Credit control: maintaining good relationships with customers while ensuring timely payments
  • Supporting with month-end reporting, journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Assisting with management accounts preparation and financial reporting
  • General ledger maintenance and reconciliation tasks

About you

  • Part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, or IATI or equivalent (QBE))
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar finance role, ideally within manufacturing or a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Sage, or similar)
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Proactive, driven, and eager to learn and grow with the business
