What you'll do
As the Assistant Accountant, you will work directly with the Finance Manager and wider finance team to support month-end reporting and day-to-day financial operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Bank reconciliations
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Completing Intrastat reports and other statutory filings
- Stock control and reconciliation of stock movements
- Managing the creditors ledger: processing invoices, reconciling supplier accounts, and preparing payments
- Overseeing the debtors ledger: allocating payments, chasing outstanding debts, and issuing statements
- Credit control: maintaining good relationships with customers while ensuring timely payments
- Supporting with month-end reporting, journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Assisting with management accounts preparation and financial reporting
- General ledger maintenance and reconciliation tasks
About you
- Part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, or IATI or equivalent (QBE))
- 2+ years of experience in a similar finance role, ideally within manufacturing or a fast-paced environment
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Sage, or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Proactive, driven, and eager to learn and grow with the business
