How is April already over? And how did VANRATH manage to get up to so much in just one month?

Keep on scrolling to find out more about VANRATH’s April highlights and subscribe to stay in the loop!

RECOGNISING THREE VITAL COLLEAGUES

About halfway through April, we announced the promotion of three incredible team members- Ross Stevenson, Richard McFarland, and Robbie Lemon – who are all now Associate Directors at VANRATH! These promotions were all well-earned and hugely deserved.

WE BROUGHT ON 4 NEW COLLEAGUES! 🎉🙌

VANRATH is constantly growing and this month we were able to add 4 new colleagues across Operations, Accounts, and recruitment.

Emma Wilson joined us around mid-April as Operations Manager and has been absolutely smashing it. Emma is already putting her ideas to work and really has hit the ground running!

Our recruitment team grew by two on 29th April with Jennifer Curran (IT Contracts) and Emmet West (Built Environment) who already feel like they’ve been with us a long time despite it only being a matter of days! They are both seasoned Recruitment Specialists in their respective areas and we can’t wait to see how we can help them continue to grow.

We were able to add a new Credit Controller to our Accounts team with Andrew Mulvenna, who also joined us on 29th April and has been flying through his first week. He brings with him nearly 8 years of experience within Credit Control – and it shows!

BIG MONTH FOR EVENTS! (and proof that we’ll go where the food goes…)

ACA Professional Group Breakfast Event

VANRATH had the pleasure of sponsoring and talking at the Chartered Accountants Ulster Society Professional Group’s breakfast & panel talk event. IT was held at Custom House Square and was an excellent way to spend a Thursday morning. Emma Jayne Bowen, Barbara McKiernan, and Chanel Gillen really enjoyed their morning and the engaging/informative panel discussion!

Chartered Accountants Members in Business Dinner

Barbara, Emma-Jayne, and Adrian Harrison all got to spend a lovely evening at Shu networking with individuals in the Finance industry while learning more about the importance of the accounting profession within our economy. There was a lot of support in the room regarding the proposition of reducing the level of corporation tax in NI and huge interest in the new budget

NI CIPD Conference 2024

Barbara McKiernan, Richard McFarland, Thomas Greer, Emma Hall, and Emma Wilson all headed over to the ICC on 30th April to chat and network with HR Professionals. Barbara was also given the opportunity to chair a very interesting panel discussion with Shauna Collins and Elaine Fugard to discuss case studies surrounding “Enhancing Employee Experience through Employee Voice.” It was an interesting and informative day for all who attended!

PwC’s CEO Breakfast

Barbara McKiernan was delighted to have been invited to PwC’s CEO Breakfast event held on 9th April. IT was a fantastic round table discussion led by PwC’s UK Senior Partner, Kevin Ellis, who discussed a number of key challenges and considerations for NI Business Leaders including the impact of AI and how it will shape our workforce!

Queen’s Business School Spring Employer’s Breakfast

EJ and Julie Moore were invited to QUB Business School’s Spring Employer’s Breakfast in Riddel Hall! They got the chance to see the new, very impressive, Queen’s Business School Business Hub. It was a great opportunity to meet up with other employers connected to the school! Thank you to Karl Webb for the invitation. It was great catching up with everyone and the team loved the goodie bags they came away with. Amazing things in development here!

Connecting Belfast

Emma Jayne really said “send me to every event going!” In the photo above you’ll see EJ having a great time networking at the Belfast Chamber: “Connecting Belfast” event at Custom House on 17th April. She told us there was a ‘great buzz’ about the place and was thrilled to have had loads of interesting chats with some amazing people.

BLOWING OFF STEAM BY TREATING OUR TEAM
The VANRATH team took a half day to go and enjoy a day trying to break out of prison…
… Prison Island that is! We all clocked off at 12:30pm for pizza then headed out for an afternoon of fun. We normally have our team days out on a Friday but having it on a Monday really set the tone for the rest of the week and it proved to be a great team-building exercise so wins all around! Also, not to brag, but all 10 VANRATH teams filled the "High scores of the Week" leader board because we're class (and because it was only Monday, but still...)

THE STATS DON’T LIE
We learned a lot of new things about our followers including the fact that…

·         Only 28% have managed to master the work/life balance

·         93% say they have experienced imposter syndrome in their career, with 59% experiencing it frequently.

·         94% believe that Personal Branding is important for career success

·         71% believe that LinkedIn is the most effective platform for networking vs. 24% who said Events & Conferences, and 6% who said social media such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram
